The Jim Van Arsdale Guitar School in Auburn, New York offers guitar and bass instruction in all musical styles including rock, blues, jazz, country, and pop. We welcome every age group and playing level, from beginners to advanced. Jim Van Arsdale holds a master's degree in education, and has taught private music lessons for over 18 years. Our instruction focuses on individual student interest, music theory, and improvisation skills.
We also work to create opportunities for students to practice and perform together. Along with private instruction our space allows us to incorporate “jam sessions” on a regular basis. We incorporate drums, keyboard, bass guitar, and vocals into the lesson experience. As a school we team up regularly with the non-profit organization, Perform 4 Purpose, to perform for an audience the music we have been working on. Along with P4P we have raised thousands of dollars for local food pantries, homeless shelters, friends with medical challenges, and other community fund raisers.
